some daily scent, featuring Hokkabaz

Monday:  No perfume, but I scented the house with some incense.  Years and years ago, I bought some Place du Primeur - Greengrocer Square incense cones from Terre d'Oc  at World Market and I really liked it.  I still really like it.  Unfortunately they don't make these anymore, from what I have gleaned from a little on-line research.  I'm happy that I still have a few cones left.

Tuesday:  Annick Goutal Mandragore.  I actually picked the wrong bottle - I had wanted to wear Encens Flamboyant since I was running a fever and had to get to work (the downfall of working hourly and seasonal - no sick days).  But Mandragore worked very well, and I got through the day.

Wednesday:  Need more warmth!  Still not feeling 100% but I did have the day off.  I have been testing Esscentual Alchemy's Hokkabaz for awhile now, and every time I wear it, I love it even more.  It is a warm, enveloping perfume, Amanda Feeley's take on Guerlain's discontinued Djedi. As she writes on her website:  "It is dry, dusty, bitter and eerie.  Not for the faint of heart."   And I agree.  It's a thick and heady scent, with motes of light dusted through.   The notes include rose, vetiver, oakmoss, leather accord, civt, patchouli, antique mysore sandalwood, clove, vanilla, orris, calamus, and embalming spices accord.

As I have never sniffed Djedi,  I don't have any thoughts about comparisons or references.  But I do feel that I am transported with Hokkabaz. I flit between the images that came to mind when I read the books The Egyptologist and All the Pretty Horses (the book NOT the film!).

(Disclaimer: Amanda sent me the sample, but all opinions are my own - as usual! - and
I was not compensated for this review.)

Thursday:  Annick Goutal  Encens Flamboyant !

Friday:  Bond No. 9 Chinatown.

(It's Monday again - oops I meant to post this on Sunday!)

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

The Moth and I binge-watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (season 1) on Netflix.  We loved it - and I especially loved the fashion (the HATS!!!) and interior design.

Has anyone else seen this?  Has anyone read the books?

Of course, I was trying to figure out what perfume she had on her vanity.

I have not read the books, but will now.  According to the blog The Fabulous Miss Fisher, in the books it is mentioned that Phryne wears a Floris (perhaps the Honeysuckle?), Jicky and Le Fruit Defendu. .

But in the series, I cannot tell if the bottles are just set design, or if they are truly real perfume bottles.  What do you all think?   Maybe the octagonal one is a Brosseau?

so here's what I wore, and what I found

I started a part-time seasonal job at a fabric/sewing/craft store this week, in the framing department; I'm grateful for work, but still looking for full-time work somewhere.

Now that I actually have to wear clothes that aren't for the garden, I guess it's time to don some scent, too.

Oh, I have to wear a type of uniform.  Now I'm all about uniforms - really I am.   Once I find something I like, I usually purchase a few of that item.  But the fact that I have to wear a WHITE shirt horrifies me!

Monday:  Womanity by Mugler.  It was quite perfect for the first day of work, as I think of this as kind of  tame, but with a little hidden kick-ass!

Tuesday:  Coco by Chanel.

Wednesday:  My beloved Les Nereides Opoponax.   It was a very chilly day, and I needed its warmth.

Thursday:  de Rosine's  Rose Kashmirie.

I stopped by the TJ Maxx store after work on Thursday, and picked up some bath stuff (thanks Vanessa for the suggestion)!  Apotheke: M's Blackcurrant Fig replenishing bath and shower oil, and A La Maison de Provence Lavender Aloe Bath and Shower.  Both have really good ingredients and a wonderful scent. And I didn't realise that Apotheke: M is a Margo Elena brand.  I do love some of her TokyoMilk stuff!

Ahhhh!

popping in to say "I'm still here!"

A lot of things going on in my life these days.  Most of it has to do with me scrambling to find employment.

And perfume - how does that fit in my life?  Well honestly, not much.  I did wear Lalique Flora Bella and Hermes Eau des Merveilles for two interviews I have had.

Also, two people recently asked me questions regarding perfume - one to ask "what did they do to Opium!?!?!" and another messaged my husband through Facebook to ask me about magazine fragrance inserts.

It looks like things won't calm down for a bit.  What I need are recommendations on an inexpensive bubble bath product.  Baths calm me down, and the cheap stuff purchased at drug stores usually smells awful.

Any suggestions?
