Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

The Moth and I binge-watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (season 1) on Netflix.  We loved it - and I especially loved the fashion (the HATS!!!) and interior design.

Has anyone else seen this?  Has anyone read the books?

Of course, I was trying to figure out what perfume she had on her vanity.

I have not read the books, but will now.  According to the blog The Fabulous Miss Fisher, in the books it is mentioned that Phryne wears a Floris (perhaps the Honeysuckle?), Jicky and Le Fruit Defendu. .

But in the series, I cannot tell if the bottles are just set design, or if they are truly real perfume bottles.  What do you all think?   Maybe the octagonal one is a Brosseau?

    1. Hello Callie! I agree; I love all the characters and how they support one another - and I hope that Netflix will show season 2, too! I have to check our library to see if they have these book. So glad you stopped by.

  2. Oh yes! Love this series -- stayed through the first episode in the spring just for Phryne's gorgeous clothes and the decor, but came back each week for the characters and the humour, AND the clothes. Here in BC season 2 started at the beginning of November -- still watching and this season we learn more about Jack. Love how each episode takes on a different milieu or social issue of the time.
I haven't read the books -- might be fun to get more detail.
The perfume bottles look like set decoration, but I like the fact that there are so many.
Do tell if you read any of the books.

    1. Hello Lindaloo! Oh I'm so glad you have seen this wonderful show too, and I must admit, I'm envious that you are able to watch Season 2! I may just have to watch a few episodes again as I miss all the characters already.

I think you're right that they're set decoration; but admittedly I do not know much about vintage perfume or bottles.

I will update if I read the books - and thanks again for stopping by!!

    1. Oh I'm so happy, Undina, that you liked it! They're probably just set decoration, but it would have been cool if they found vintage bottles of real perfume (esp the types mentioned in the books) for the set.
