a perfume journey
I have never smelled that one..I probably won't. Nice little blog..I'll be back.
I don't particularlt care for it either...but Vintage Jicky ? It made me want to be sick ! And I love skanky perfumes..So don't feel bad..
Just to note that the classic Guerlains, all of them except Apres l'Ondee, seem hugely better in higher concentrations. My personal test notes for L'HB edt say, "Medicine cabinet of hell." The parfum, though, is a different story.I'm not a Guerlain ho. I don't get on with Mitsouko, and Shalimar demands a certain mood, certain weather, and a very delicate hand on the dabber. Jicky's too much lavender for me, and I'd rather be thrown into a cage with hungry tigers than smell Insolence ever again. (Although I would probably sell my soul for some more Apres l'Ondee - or Shalimar Light, if I wasn't already stocked up on that.)I like L'HB better when the weather's warm, for some reason. If you'd like a sniff of the parfum, let me know.
Yeah-- I didn't get the hype around L'HB-- didn't hate either. But beyond my ken, let's just say... Mals makes an interesting point-- I'd love to sit down with a real vintagista and smell all these classics in different concentrations. I smell some of the oldies, and I ask myself, "Is this the real thing?"
My HGS happens to be a Guerlain (Plus Que Jamais), but I dislike as many as I like...L'HB I can take or leave until the drydown when a tonne of powder has blown off. I do adore Bois d'Armenie and Rose Barbare, also Apres L'Ondee as Mals says, so when they are good, they are very very good, type of thing.
I can't do this one either--- its what is known as a "scrubber" - that is what you have to do to get it off!!!! LOL
I need to try Apres L'Ondee and Rose Barbare..I'm sorry I'm not replying to you all separately! I love 'scrubber' - I have had a few of those. Glad I'm not alone in my dislike - esp since my partner-in-sniffs, FF, is I believe a little annoyed that I don't like it as she adores it! I do like the Jicky I have - not sure what version it is though. Bonkers, What is HGS?
